Department of Punjabi

With a remarkable legacy of being the nerve centre for Mai Bhago Degree College for girls, the department has kept up with the changing times by hosting national conferences and seminars and memorial lectures anually. The platform provided by the department for live wire interactions among thinkers, writers and teachers on one hand, and between the intellectuals and the students on the other hand, has ensured that the department remains at the centre of Punjabi literature and culture’s dynamic transformation through the years. The Department of Punjabi has also ensured to keep its dialogue with the college teachers by ensuring regular workshops, promoting Co-operative and Guest teaching under the faculty improvement scheme and by taking keen interest in promoting Punjabi language at the Under-graduate level and post graduate level. Currently, the Department is flourishing under Dr. Balwinder Singh Brar’s (Assistant Professor) Headship.
